Saturday Series Dressage held at Whin Cover Farm on Saturday 6th July.
Another well attended event with some really lovely tests reflected in some good scores. Lots of happy faces which was lovely to see.
A huge thank you to Sue and James Joy for hosting us again as very wet weather had been forecast (although this did not actually materialise). These events have a team of people behind the scenes, thank you to our lovely judge Deborah Howson and writer Sue Hardman. Stewards Ruth Atkins, Vicky Ljudevitch-Harrison, James Joy, Anne Smith and Laura Starling. Sue Kedie, Margaret Hardie and Jill Laurance for the delicious cakes and for running the tea room.
We all enjoyed catching up over coffee and cake whilst people collected their sheets and rosettes.

We would like all competitors and visitors at YDRC organised events to have a great time but the Committee would like to remind you, that yours and your horse’s safety is ultimately your own responsibility.
The YDRC committee request that all riding participants have adequate insurance cover in place, including third party (public liability) cover.
Members of YDRC are covered as part of their membership – as are individuals who are members of another affiliated British Riding Club (‘BRC’).
If not a member of any BRC club, in entering this event, you are confirming that you have satisfactory insurance cover in place.
The YDRC Committee reserves the right to request sight of your insurance policy before or at the event and should evidence of insurance not be forthcoming, then the Committee reserves the right to refuse your participation at the entered event. If refused the right to partake, your entry fee shall be forfeited. The Committee’s decision shall be final.
Due to the recent weather we decided not to hold the competition at the club field, but it went ahead at Whin Cover Farm instead on the 6th April ’24.
A great turnout for our first show of this year’s dressage series, which are held on the first Saturday of each month over spring/summer (see our events page).

What is Endurance Riding?
“Come along and find out all about the basics of endurance riding and how accessible it is for all riders.
As long as your horse is sound and you enjoy hacking you’ll like endurance.
The talk will give you a brief overview of Endurance, the different rides, equipment and what happens at a ride.
We will also talk about the Endurance Riding Club Championship which takes place each year and if you’re part of a riding club you can join in.”

Important especially if you take part, or are hoping to take part in any of our team events.
Following advice from British Equestrian, BRC will be amending the intervals of new or restarting flu vaccination courses from 1 January 2024. Vaccinations that are up to date and correct are not altered by this change, only courses starting after 1 January 2024 are affected.
Important reminder that 2024 is a leap year and whilst they are not counted for annual vaccinations, the extra day must be considered for the primary course (V1 – V3).
Other vaccination rules will remain the same. Full details will be found in the 2024 Handbook when available.
Vaccination courses started before 1 January 2024 may follow either of the intervals set out below.
